Women Leaders Association Welcomes Melinda Bickerstaff as Washington Coaching Partner

-REDPRESSWIRE- Experienced executive and Master Certified Coach (MCC) brings a deeply human approach to helping leaders make sense of complexity, understand themselves more clearly, and discover their own way forward.

The Women Leaders Association, the largest publisher and events organization for women professionals with 43,000 members and more than 130 regional chapters, today announced Melinda J. Bickerstaff, MCC, as the newest Coaching Partner of its Washington chapter. Bickerstaff joins a roster of three rigorously vetted coaches available to Washington members.

Leaders often come to Bickerstaff with complex situations they are struggling to make sense of. Making sense of complexity is at the heart of how she works. Through deep listening, thoughtful questions, reframing, and subtle challenges, she helps leaders see both the situation and themselves more clearly. The answers remain their own.

Coaching is one of the highest-impact investments a professional woman can make in her career, and one of the hardest to shop for. Titles are unregulated and quality varies enormously. Under Coaching Partners, the association does the screening on the member's behalf, vetting every coach for recognized certifications, verifiable experience, and excellent client reviews, so members can book a consultation with confidence.

Bickerstaff's coaching focuses first on the person, not simply the issue in front of them. She believes leaders often know their own answers; her role is to create space, curiosity, and inquiry that help those answers emerge. As leaders understand and appreciate their own strengths and talents more clearly, they can bring that understanding to the challenges, decisions, and opportunities they face.

She has occupied the chairs her clients sit in. Before becoming an executive coach, Bickerstaff served in senior executive roles as Chief Human Resources Officer, Chief Knowledge Officer, and Chief Learning Officer for global Fortune 100 companies. She knows firsthand what it means to lead through complexity and change, make difficult decisions, and be accountable for results. She brings that lived experience into the coaching relationship, allowing her to understand not only the leader, but also the world in which that leader is operating.

As a Master Storyteller, Bickerstaff also helps leaders become more human-centered communicators in an increasingly analytical and technical world. She brings communication back to a simple question: What do you want people to do with your communication? She helps leaders simplify complexity, make their message understandable, and invite people in. Story becomes a strategic leadership tool for connecting ideas to people and moving them toward understanding and action. She has brought this approach to more than 60,000 leaders around the world.

Bickerstaff's work and ideas have also influenced the broader fields of learning, leadership, knowledge management, and storytelling. Her innovative work has been recognized by the American Productivity and Quality Center and featured in leading publications and books on leadership, learning, and storytelling. A Fulbright Scholar, she has received seven National Leadership Awards from the American Society for Training and Development (now ATD), including its highest and most prestigious, the Gordon M. Bliss Memorial Award.

"Melinda brings an unusual combination of deep coaching experience, firsthand executive leadership, and an ability to make the complex understandable," said Lydia Price, 2026 Volunteer Chair of the Women Leaders Association. "She understands both the person sitting across from her and the world in which that leader is operating. With three vetted coaches now in Washington, our members can choose the coaching partner who feels right for them."

"I believe leaders often know their own answers. My role is to listen deeply, stay curious, and ask the questions that help them see themselves and the situation more clearly," said Bickerstaff. "I'm pleased to join the Women Leaders Association and create a space where women leaders in Washington can explore and grow."

Bickerstaff joins Megan Laabs and Violetta Diamond on the Washington chapter's coaching roster. Members can view her profile and schedule a free consultation through the Women Leaders Association's Washington chapter at https://WashingtonWomenLeaders.org/CoachMelindaBickerstaff

The Washington expansion is part of a national rollout extending Coaching Partners across the association's network of more than 130 chapters, pairing each city's members with coaches selected for that market.

Coaching Partners extends the association's mission of giving professional women both structural transparency and individual support. Research from Pew and others estimates that women still earn roughly 15 percent less than men on average, and the association's Glass Ceiling Score project scores most major U.S. employers on how fairly they promote women into management and executive roles. Coaching Partners adds the personal dimension: once a member sees the landscape clearly, a proven coach helps her move through it.
